Two different groups of specimens that resemble the original description of Brittan 1954 which probably represent 2 distinct species. The first form is long and slender and usually found in pools and backwaters of large rivers; the other one is deeper bodied with a darker melanin outline of the scales on the trunk and occurs in small clear streams flowing under a complete forest canopy. Diagnosis: Dorsal softrays (total): 9-9; Anal soft-rays: 8-8. At least 3 rows of scales between lateral line and mid-ventral scale row in front of pelvic fin; caudal fin grey with dark posterior edge (Ref. 12693). ...
