Q U E S T Newsletter of the Madison Aquatic Gardeners Club SUMMER CALENDAR: At this time, no meetings are scheduled for June, July and August. However, if any of us has a topic and would like to see a meeting during this period, let's consider it. If we have one, everyone will get the notice. NEWSLETTERS: Expect several issues this summer. One will review the April and May meetings, both dealing with artistic design of planted aquaria. Others will have stories about the Science House Aquarium, Birge Hall and a potpourri of topics exploring planted aquaria stewardship. Have questions that are begging for an answer? Let me know. I'll press the search button and maybe we'll have a Q&A item for the newsletter. LIBRARY: 1. DYNAMIC AQUARIA, Building Living Ecosystems by Adey and Loveland. We now have four copies. Enter the exquisite realm of aquatic ecosystems. This scholarly book travels through some pretty complicated ideas via fine illustrations, charts and a most understandable writing style. And yes, you can keep a copy for a half a year. Two copies are out. One copy is in Science House and one is in the Club Library. If you are looking for a little recreational summer time reading, let me know. 2. ACQUAMARINE LIGHT METER featuring a submersible probe. The photocell is epoxy encapsulated. It measures foot candles. Divide by 0.093 to determine LUX. OPEN HOUSE INVITES: Want to have some club members over to check out your aquariums and talk planted aquaria? Perhaps a Sunday afternoon, or mid week evening for a couple of hours after supper? Put out an invitation, using the club e-mail list, or let me know, and I'll send the post. Learning from each other is one of our goals. AQUARIUM PROFILES: I'd love to photograph club member's aquaria, do a complete test of water parameters and chat. How about compiling a folio of illustrated stories, something sharable between us. In a week or so, I'll understand my digital camera and be ready. Who is brave out there, willing to help launch this project into "club orbit"?
