Q U E S T Newsletter of the Madison Aquarium Gardeners Club, 6/12/03
From: John Glaeser 233-5182
NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY EVENING, JUNE 26, 03, 6:30 – 9:00
Science House, 1645 Linden Drive on the UW Campus
6:30 - 7:00 Check in.
7:00 - 7:15 Refreshments and announcements
7:15 - 8:15 TOPIC: Communications
8:15 - 8:45 Break. Ice cream, Library, Plant Exchange, Mingle, chat.
8:45 - 9:00 Brief business meeting and wrap up.
We'll be sitting around in a circle, sharing planted aquaria stories, asking questions, brainstorming answers, then breaking off for one-on-one exchanges. Here's a chance to get to know each other better. A sure thing it is, many valuable anecdotal insights will result. Perhaps some of these ideas can be summarized and logged into a section of our web site we might call, "CONVERSATIONS".
"SCHOOL AQUARIUMS". Another umbrella? Why not. David Watson is developing an illustrated story about how he and son Nathan, along with the kids in Nate's school, created a gorgeous master aquaria. In a few weeks, expect to see this piece in our web site. This and other school aquarium stories can be an encouragement to teachers looking to creating a working aquatic ecosystem.
Many thanks to our site facilitator Greg Stahl, for exploring the outreach potential for our site: https://aquarium.support/ > or simply type in Madison Aquarium Gardeners.
Just for fun, here's a picture of Hydrotriche hottoniiflora in bloom. You'll see it in the recently established planted aquaria in Sonderegger Science Center Atrium, Edgewood College. Find yourself tooling up or down Madison's Monroe Street? Turn into Edgewood Campus. I'm in the process of writing a tale of trials and error associated with this project. Expect to see the account in our web site, a few
weeks from now.
Enough for now. More to come later........................John
