Two bulletins a month should keep us informed in a timely manner. The first one is distributed about a week after a meeting to provide a summary of the occasion. The second is sent with the agenda a week prior to a meeting and reports on projects in process and provides planning information associated with agenda items:
CLUB LIBRARY: By the 24th, enough of the Library will be organized to illustrate how to check out materials. In about a month all titles should be listed on a reference sheet for you. The collection will be in a small shelving area by the planted tank section at Aquatic Specialties Store. At the meeting we will look at how the system works. TAG ARTICLE: Good article in the most recent TAG magazine (Journal of the Aquatic Gardeners Association) titled: Scanning and Editing Aquarium Photographs, part 1. You can find this in our Library. WATER TESTING: I've got a collection of instruments and chemistry that folks can check out. E-mail or call and I can meet you at the library corner and explain how things work. Sometimes a test result can give information to help solve a problem or to help make things work better. Give your tank a check up.
WEB SEARCH: Lots of stuff out there. Some of it is really good. Who has time to stumble into that gem. For instance: The other day I ran into this in the Aquatic Plants Digest that appears in my e-mail every day: Date: Fri, 4 Jan 1980

The following was quoted from the www.tropica.com website: " Ceratophyllum demersum often forms monsopecific populations and is found down to 10 m depth as individual very slow-growing plants. In the aquarium, on the other hand, it prefers relatively high light and it does not tolerate transportation for extended periods. It excretes substances toxic to algae (allelopathic behavior) and at good growth conditions it efficiently inhibits most algae growth."
Now and then I'll share things like this. Want to subscribe to the AQUATIC PLANT DIGEST? connect to: Type in body of message: SUBSCRIBE AQUATIC PLANTS Send.
ARTICLE: Dave Gomberg who is starting the Planted Aquaria Magazine has asked me to write an article for a coming issue. He wants something like: Starting Your Own Club. There are five other clubs in the country plus Canada. I'll be contacting them to get information for the article. How about that! Sounds like fun.
TOM BARR: Your handout folder has a small e-mail novel between Thomas Barr and me. Tom is a friend of Dave and Dave contacted me and we started sharing ideas around the Planted Tank article I'm working on. I know this is excessive, but you might find it sort of amusing.
PHOTOGRAPHY: I talked with Scott Weideman a professional photographer friend of mine about maybe sometime having him show us techniques of photographing aquariums with a 35mm camera. So, sometime in the future.
TANK VISITS: Keep thinking about how we can get to see each other's aquariums. When the weather gets nicer something like this will be easier to do I think. I for one would invite you all over for pizza. The way our schedules are all over the map the only way I figure doing something like this is to have a group of six or so one day, another group another day until everyone has come through. I don't know. Have thoughts on this?
VILAS ZOO: Let's think about the approaching the Vilas Zoo about creating a tank for them after we get fully established as a club.
GREAT CONVERSATIONS: These may not be great and they may be small but consider sharing them with the group. Write them up and we can post them in our QUEST bulletin.
TAPE RECORDER: I got a neat little discrete table top tape recorder to make standard sized audio tapes of presentations. Will show it to you at the meeting
