Q U E S T  Newsletter of the Madison Aquarium Gardeners Club, 5/6/03
From: John Glaeser [email protected] > 233-5182

NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY EVENING, May 22, 03 , 6:30 – 9:00
Science House, 1645 Linden Drive on the UW Campus

TIME FOR CHANGE:

You’ve noticed we’ve changed our name to Madison Aquarium Gardeners from Madison Aquatic Gardeners. “Aquarium” emphasizes our focus more clearly.

Fine-tuning the club’s website? It’s happening right now. Victor Marsh threw a long pass and Greg Stahl caught the ball and is heading for the goal line.

We owe Victor Marsh a huge thanks for getting us on the Web a couple of years ago. Demanding career and nurturing of family can become an increasingly high priority. I think it is a small relief for Victor that Greg has volunteered to manage our new site.

We discussed our website at the last club meeting (4/24) and decided to continue with it. We want to experiment with format and function toward the goal of having this place be a vital “Exchange Central” defined by membership contributions.

Greg has begun designing. Take a look. www.sit.wisc.edu/~gsstahl > . Enter it into your browser address box and hit RETURN and you should get it. Shortly, aquarium.support > will become our domain name. Keep tuned.

Share your thoughts for adding interactive zip to our web space. Here are a couple of things beginning to happen:

GALLERY: Member aquarium pictures with venue data such as plant species, fish, water parameters, care routines and narrative profiling personal aquaria experiences. This is getting close to a concept Jan Hoffman introduced a year ago. Let’s fill the GALLERY. Great activity for June, July, August and September.

HOME VISITS: With digital camera in hand, I’d like to get a picture of your aquariums, test water parameters and summarize your experiences with planted aquaria. If we have a group of members keen to see aquariums of other members, we can send out an invitation to them. At least a few might be free to come along. Jam session? Yes!

VISITORS GROUP: Let me know if you’d like to be on the visitors group call list. Once I make arrangements to photograph an aquarium and chat with the aquarium designer, I’ll get the host’s OK to invite the visitors group.

LIBRARY: We’ll get our continually updated lending library titles into the website for your quick reference.

Share your thoughts.
