Q U E S T  Newsletter of the Madison Aquarium Gardeners Club 2/27/04

Notes from last meeting 2/26/04:

1. We checked out the blooming splendor of a Crinum thaianum (onion
plant), thriving in UW Birge Hall atrium's 150 gallon planted aquaria.
Surprising as it was seeing this plant flower late last December, here
it is now, blossoming again. Even more robustly! From the tip of the
stalk (umbel) is branching out umbrella like, ten exquisite flowers
developing and fading sequentially every two days. This performance
should continue throughout most of next week. If you have an
opportunity, see it.

2. Greg Stahl reviewed plans for upgrading our website. Greg is a UW
Business School student, with an emphasis on computer technology. As a
class project, he's using our web presence potential, as a framework
for structuring a state of art, interactive venue. In two months, we
should see results. Until then our site may not be updated promptly,
and understandably so. Patience. Greg is one busy fellow. Final product
should be slick and much easier to maintain. Greg is promising to train
me to perform routine updating chores.

3. Welcome new member, IAN TAN, UW student from Indonesia. He has lots of "beginners questions", and we are happy to share our planted aquaria experiences and wish him success.

4. Next Meeting: Any suggestions for a date?

Tentatively it's Thursday March 25.  If we choose Thursday the 18th,
this might be a reasonable concession to our Milwaukee attendees who
have their Milwaukee club meeting, last Friday of the month. As it is
now, we've usually been meeting last Thursday of the month, and
Milwaukee, last Friday.  Sort of tight sequence for Milwaukee folk.

Any way, let me know.
